Description

The Canton Public Schools seeks experienced, equity-oriented, and intellectually-curious applicants for the position of Team Chair/Student Services Coordinator at the Elementary level. This position will be shared between the Hansen and JFK Elementary Schools.

Below is a list of the major responsibilities of the role of Team Chair

 

Team Chair Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the special education caseload and all aspects of the special education process at the Hansen Elementary School for all grades K-5 and at the JFK Elementary School for Grades 3-5 only, in alignment with state and district guidelines; including leading special education meetings as well as the development and distribution of IEPs  
  • Attend and participate in all Student Services Department Meetings, CPS Professional Development, Student Services Training, and Compliance meetings 
  • Additional responsibilities as determined by the Principal and/or Director and Assistant Director of Student Services and/or Superintendent
  • Supervise Educational Assistants

  • Demonstrated experience across the responsibilities listed above
  • Demonstrated knowledge of innovative elementary level curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices that support the success of every student
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and MA State Special Education Laws and Regulations
  • Experience in and demonstrated skills as an effective communicator, impactful collaborator, facilitative leadership, and creative problem-solver
  • Demonstrated commitment to personal, team, and district-wide professional growth and ongoing learning, along with the design, implementation, and evaluation of adult learning/professional development 
  • Commitment to upholding personal professional values and nurturing relationships with a positive attitude, honesty, and respect
  • Demonstrated professionalism, with a strong work ethic, adaptable, dependable, and responsible.
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the elementary level and proven performance in previous administrative/leadership positions.
  • Valid Massachusetts educator license as Special Education Pre-K-8 Teacher, Special Education Administrator or could be obtained within a year of hire, and/or Principal/Assistant Principal license K-5 is preferred.

Director of Student Services or Designee

Educational Assistants
