Canton High School is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to join our learning community as a Mathematics teacher for the first semester of the 24-25 school year (beginning of November until the beginning of February) . Our mathematics department recently underwent a major curriculum review and as a result, we now offer integrated pathways as well as traditional high school math courses in the College Preparatory, Honors, Accelerated, and Advanced Placement levels.
JOB SUMMARY
Canton High School educators provide well-organized, enriching learning environments in which students can access Massachusetts standards-based curriculum and develop social and emotional skills in a safe and supportive educational environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional practices that facilitate active learning experiences
- Develop lesson plans that align with the state standards
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
- Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
- Use relevant instructional technology to support a variety of learning styles
- Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development
- Assign and grade assignments and assessments through a variety of methods
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development
- Manage student behavior in the classroom and throughout the school community
- Participate in department and school/staff meetings and professional development sessions
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs
- Keep up to date with advancements in subject area curriculum, teaching resources, and instructional practices and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
- Effectively teach AP Statistics, BC Calculus and Algebra 1 courses
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification that is appropriate for the grade level and subject area assigned. (Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.)
- Highly Qualified as per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
- Proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to administrators, parents/guardians, teachers, students, other school staff
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Well-organized with strong leadership abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
- Familiarity with Google Suite and other instructional technology platforms
- Other reasonable responsibilities as determined by the department coordinator and/or building administrators

COMPENSATION: per Collective Bargaining Agreement
