JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for implementing HR functions that deliver excellent service to the District.  Working closely and confidentially with the Director of Personnel Services, the Human Resources Generalist supports hiring and recruitment, onboarding and offboarding of employees, leaves of absence, separations and other duties as assigned.  This position works closely with substitutes, staff, administration and the payroll office.  Experience in the school or municpal setting is preferred.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  1. Conducts the new hire processing and onboarding for all District employees.
  2. Process all new hire paperwork and ensure compliance with new hire requirements, including I-9.
  3. Coordinates new hire packets for Town Hall for benefit enrollment.
  4. Meet and support all new hires through the onboarding process.
  5. Assists with employee recruitment activities; including job fairs.
  6. Processes requests for and/or generates employment verifications.
  7. Enter and update all employees changes into Powerschool SIS and TalentEd.
  8. Supports the Director of Personnel Services and all hiring managers in job posting and processing of all new staff activities during the hiring process.
  9. Posts and monitors all open positions using TalentEd Applicant Tracking.
  10. Responsible for all new hire account creation in our attendance management system.
  11. Supports retirement processing for MTRS and Norfolk County, including staff enrollment, researching retirement issues, and applications.
  12. Assists with the preparation of yearly letters for Unit E, Unit A, PTS.
  13. Conducts and tracks all employee CORI’s and Federal SAFIS Fingerprinting for every new employee and reprocess when required; Maintains secure records.
  14. Process requests from former employees for fingerprinting documentation.
  15. Supports the hiring and onboarding of daily substitutes and student teachers.
  16. Support New Educator Orientation planning and implementation.
  17. Works closely with payroll to ensure accurate and timely status changes, new hires and separations.
  18. Create, maintain and update all employee records both paper and electronic including filing, copying, scanning and data entry/record maintenance.
  19. Serve as a liaison for staff members, town personnel and candidates.
  20. Supports the Director of Personnel Services with leave management including FMLA.
  21. Manage and keep current all posted federal and state labor law documentation.
  22. Performs other related tasks and assumes other related responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Personnel Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  2. Experience in the school or municpal setting preferred
  3. Three to five years Human Resources preferred; 3-5 years relevant work experience required
  4. Working knowledge of Google and Excel preferred; experience with Powerschool SIS a plus
  5. Previous experience and familiarity of use with a HRIS or other data system; Specifically TalentEd Applicant Tracking and Records a plus; 
  6. Proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner with all stakeholders
  7. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  8. Well-organized and detail orientated a must
  9. Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  10. Employment-based on successful completion of CORI and fingerprinting background
  11. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and acceptable

Reports to: Director of Personnel Services

Work Schedule: Full Year Employee

Compensation: $65,000- $75,000; Personal Service Contract
