This is a per diem position for student school days at the Galvin Middle School and Canton High School, and after school hours at Canton High School. This candidate will work closely with a student as needed in an effort to provide them with the physical support needed to maintain safety at all times in the school environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist and provide supervision for a student with personal care tasks, including but not  limited to, assistance in the bathroom, clothing adjustments and hygiene routines
• Provide monitoring/supervision as designated in students health care plan
• Accompany student to assigned locations within the building including lunch period, assisting with obtaining student's lunch in the cafeteria and providing help as needed
• Accompany student on field trips/activities during or after the school day as needed
• Provide academic support, aiding with note taking and classroom tasks as needed
• Facilitate transitions via wheelchair or mobility; assist student to and from transportation upon arrival to school and at dismissal
• Mobility support, working with adaptive equipment as needed to promote student safety
• Assist with other tasks as directed by the Nurse Leader and nurses

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Current CPR certification
• Health education background preferred
• Preferred: One year experience as a CNA or in a health care setting
• Ability to function effectively as part of a health services team
• Previous experience working with children in a school or similar environment preferred

• Physical Requirements: Ability to move in and out classrooms, buildings, and up and down stairs. Must possess mobility to work in a classroom setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; Strength to lift and/or carry materials/items/persons weighing up to 75 pounds with assistance
