Canton High School seeks a highly qualified and DESE-certified full-time Visual Arts/Video Production teacher. The ideal candidate will have expertise in video production, editing with Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premier, and experience, or willingness to learn. Experience using a multi-cam studio set-up is preferred. The current courses teach students the fundamentals of video production through hands-on projects, fostering creativity, and preparing them for future opportunities in digital media communication.
Current Teaching Assignment and Professional Responsibilities:
- Courses: Video Production I, Video Production II, and upon teacher approval, a limited number of independent study students. These courses are a mix of semester and full year sections.
- Use of Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premier for video editing and post-production.
- Lead students in the use of a multi-cam studio for live production, switching, and multi-camera setups (Mackie Audioboard, Blackmagic Switcher, Character Generator, and Newtek replay system).
- Develop curriculum aligned with the MA Visual Arts and Media Arts standards, incorporating storytelling, videography, sound design, and lighting.
- Provide hands-on training in camera operation, video editing, and production workflow. Oversee student projects, providing feedback and mentorship to help students improve their skills.
- Collaborate with the Canton Cable Company and CPS Tech staff to maintain and troubleshoot studio equipment, ensuring all tools and software are up-to-date and functioning properly.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate video production across the school curriculum.
- Organize and supervise live broadcasts and recordings of school events (e.g. sports, assemblies, and performances).
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in video production and media arts.
- Foster a creative and inclusive learning environment that encourages student innovation and collaboration.
- Collaborate with colleagues (general education and special education) and administration to best support the needs of all learners.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators
Additional Requirements:
- MA Certification required in the field of Visual Arts
- Prior experience preferred
- Masters degree preferred
