Description:
Galvin Middle School is seeking a skilled and dynamic educator for our Therapeutic program to start immediately. This program serves a cohort of students requiring specialized instruction and social-emotional support in addition to academic programming. The Therapeutic program is also supported by a full complement of staff including School Adjustment Counselors, School Counselors, School Psychologist, nursing staff, BCBA, and educational assistant support.
Job Description
- Provide specialized academic instruction to students with emotional disabilities
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, service providers, and paraprofessionals to provide accommodations and modifications to the curriculum as needed
- Consult with paraprofessionals and teachers regularly to develop/maintain instructional practices and routines that best support students in the classroom setting
- Create a daily classroom schedule aligned with the schedule of the student’s general education programming Serve as a liaison for students assigned to the therapeutic program
- Communicate with families in a consistent manner
- Collect data for behavior intervention plans and IEP goals
- Collaborate with BCBA, Adjustment Counselor, teachers, and paraprofessionals to create and implement individualized support/intervention plans
- Create self-regulation and social skills lessons to implement both within and in addition to the classroom setting Support students who are in emotional and behavioral crisis
- Other duties as assigned by the Special Education Team Chair, Director of Student Services, and the building principal.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Valid MA licensure in Special Education (moderate, moderate/severe)
- Experience working with students in a therapeutic, supported setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- DESE license or teaching experience in academic content area(s)
- Masters Degree in a related field
- Knowledge of social emotional learning strategies
